What happens if it rains?
Big Screen Hire always recommends having a back up indoor venue for the event just in case it rains but understand that this is not always possible. You do have the option of cancelling the event but this will need to be communicated to Big Screen Hire by 10am of the day of the event which will ensure no fee is charged as long as the event is rescheduled to another date. After 10am on the day of the event the full cost will be charged.
What type of venues can Big Screen Hire setup in?
Big Screen Hire movie screens are very versatile and durable so options on set up can be very broad. Car parks, parks, beaches, on a barge or even a roof top are all possible for the Big Movie Screen as long as there is enough space for the screen, equipment, audience and the area is deemed safe and secure.
What should I consider when selecting an area for an Outdoor Movie Event?
Safety for your guests is always the first consideration as the last thing you need is anyone getting hurt. Look over the area and ensure you are not taking any unnecessary risks and remove any objects that could course injury. Is the area pleasant and or picturesque, great views can go a long way to drawing a crowd. Lighting is also a concern as you do not want big street lights near the screen which will interfere with the projection quality. As a rule of thumb allow approximately 90-100 meters in length and 30-50 meters in width. However, we can setup almost anywhere.
The venue should also be well maintained with short grass or clean of rubbish, sprinklers, gas and electrical lines. Big Screen Hire will need to secure the screen so please ensure 4ft takes can be driven into the ground. If this is not permitted then alternative methods need to be used, e.g. securing it to street posts or a building or water ballast is also an option.
Considering how close the event will be to residents is also a strong consideration along with amply parking for guests. For more information on this important topic contact Big Screen Hire.
How much rower will I need?
Standard 240 volts is all that is required but if power is not close by then generators will be used.
How long does setup take?
Typically Big Screen Hire likes to get to the venue about 3 hours before kick off but this can vary according to the type of event. Anything less than 2 hours can be difficult.
Do you only work with DVD?
This format is the easiest but Big Screen can also work with VHS. 35mm film is complicated and expensive but we are capable of delivering this format.
Can we charge admission fee?
Yes you can but this will effect the licensing of the film whereby the distributors will take 40-70% of the admission or ticket price up to a designated amount. These charges do vary according to audience size and the film selected
What is the cost of hiring Big Screen Hire for an Outdoor Cinema Event?

Big Screen Hire tries to work within each client’s budget especially if you are trying to raise funds for a worthwhile cause.
